All proceeds from the event go to local community organizations and causes with this years proceeds going to theUxbridge Pregenancy Centre and Sunrise Support for Young Mom's. Past events have benifited local causes to the tune of about $60,000.

Local Audience gets to watch, Local Talent has an outlet, and Local Organizations benifit.

Foster Memorial to Resonate Again This Year

Once again the Foster Memorial will resound to the sound of music thanks to the Thomas Foster Committee. All shows run from 7:30 to 8:30 on friday evenings with the season starting on May 4 with a local choir. The committe accepts donations at the door allowing everyone to enjoy the event. The donations are used to help maintain the grounds and pay for utilities.

What a great way to start your weekend at the cottage, stop in on your way up north and enjoy the music and the arcitecture of this wonderfull Byzantine style building.

Thomas Foster visited the famous Taj Mahal (built as a burial place for the emperor's wife) in India and was inspired to build a memorial temple in his home town, with a Christian adaptation. It contains three crypts for Mr. Foster, his wife, and his daughter. It was erected in 1935-36 and cost $250,000.

A striking contrast to the surrounding farmlands it is built of Indiana limestone. The interior of the Temple, has four great arches supported by marble columns. The floor contains terrazzo and marble mosaics with details such as the River Styx with water lilies. The windows are hand painted, fired and leaded glass .

Words alone can not describe the beauty of this unique Treasure located 4 km north of Uxbridge on Durham 1 (Concession 7).

The Dowling Scrolls

Just occasionally, Uxbridge is treated to a rare glimpse of history. To the enjoyment and amazement of all who see them, The Dowling Scrolls are only occasionally unrolled and brought to light for a significant display. Rev James Thomas Dowling created this astounding one of a kind work of art during his tenure at the original Uxbridge Baptist Church during the 1870’s

Rev. Dowling used these scrolls in the church, using the appropriate background to help illustrate his sermons. He designed a unique display system that held the scrolls upright, where the scrolls could be turned and the appropriate panel displayed. These scrolls weigh hundreds of pounds each and are very difficult to manoeuvre, yet he took them to different churches and evangelical meetings to enhance his preaching. He had a team that traveled with him by horse and buggy to assist in his speaking engagements.
